1 04/17/07 Trevor de Clerq TH21 Laitz HARMONY HOMEWORK This harmony homework serves as an introdution to the sumediant harmony in some ommon settings or oth maor and minor modes. have tried to devise exerises that egin with passive identiiation exerises and move towards more ative tasks. For example, the sore exerpts give a hane or students to identiy the sumediant within real musial settings, whih do not neessarily have a onsistent harmoni rhythm, although these examples are airly uniorm to help identiiation. The horale harmonizations do not ump immediately into situations where the students would have too many hoies or hords; the possiilities in the irst three horal exerises are airly limited, ut the last one gives a more ree ontext. The iguration exerises at the end might e too easy sine have laeled the hords to use, ut it provides a hane or the students to develop a pseudo-ompositional texture. The other harmonies involved in all the examples have een limited to those the student would have proaly already enountered, i.e. toni, dominant, sudominant, and supertoni in irst and seond inversions
