9 -. Istallatio Space Whe istallig, the istallatio space must be secured i cosideratio of the vetilatio ad service operatio.. Do ot block the vetilatio slots at the left side ad right side paels, ad vets of the fas.. Leave a space aroud the uit for vetilatio.. Leave more tha 0 cetimeters of space i the rear of the uit to secure the operatio area. Whe the uit is istalled o the desk or the like, leave at least four cetimeters of space i the left ad right sides. Leavig 0 cetimeters or more of space above the uit is recommeded for service operatio. Moreover, a air flow that is effective i coolig the uit is essetial. If the vetilatio is ot eough, the uit may be damaged because of a icrease of the iteral temperature. This uit is air-cooled by the fas. The operatio with the upper lid is removed affects the air coolig by the fas. Complete the work i a short time as possible whe operatig the uit for ispectio with the upper lid removed. 10 -. Rack Moutig Explais how to mout this uit ito a 9-ich stadard rack. Be sure to mout this uit (*) ito a rack accurately followig the procedure ad otes metioed below. w. To prevet topplig over the rack, fix it o the horizotal ad firm floor securely with bolts, etc.. Whe istallig the uit i a utside Broadcastig va, be sure to fix the uit to the rack usig the screws ad orametal washers supplied with the rack mout kit. c. Use the specified rack mout rail. The use of other rail of low stregth may drop the uit ad cause the risk of ijury.. Mout the uit ito a rack with a steady posture. m. Whe other equipmet with built-i hard disk drive is already mouted i the same rack for moutig this uit, tur off the power of the equipmet before moutig this uit.. Coect log eough cables o the coector pael, cosiderig that the uit is pulled out from the rack.. Do ot operate this uit without the upper lid ad bottom plate except whe servicig it.. To reduce a icrease i the iteral temperature of this uit, keep the followig space away from walls. Right, Left: cm (. iches) or more Rear: 0 cm ( iches) or more. Adjust the temperature iside the rack withi the rage of the uit s operatig temperature. (Refer to Sectio -.) Specified Rack Mout Kit RMM-0 (ptioal accessory) or RMM- (ptioal accessory) The color of rack agle of RMM-0 fits to the uit. RMM- is the same cosistecy, stregth ad dimesio as RMM-0, but the color of rack agle is differet. m. 11 Rack Moutig Procedure. Removig the feet. Set the uit its side pael dow.. Uscrew the four screws to remove the feet ad spacers from the bottom plate of the uit.. Set the uit i a horizotal positio.. Attachig the ier rails. Pull each ier rail from the two itermediate rails.. Pull each ier rail out of the itermediate rails while pressig each stopper. Itermediate rail Feet Spacers Ier rail Press uter rail Stopper Feet Spacers PS x 0 PS x 0 Keep these screws, spacers ad the feet. Whe operatig the uit after demoutig it from the rack, be sure to reattach the feet. Tighteig torque: 9 x 0 _.m {0 kgf.cm} Pull out. Remove the te screws from both sides (left ad right) of the uit as show i the figure below.. Attach the two ier rails to both sides (left ad right) of uit with the removed screws i the step. Tighteig torque: 0 x 0 _.m {. kgf.cm} m. Be sure to use the (B x ) screws whe attachig the ier rail. The use other-sized screws may cause a malfuctio.. Pay attetio ot to faste the screws to the screw holes other tha actually used screw holes for fixig the ier rails o both sides of the uit. 12 . Attachig the rack agles (hadles). Remove the four screws from both sides (left ad right) of the uit.. Loosely attachig the rail brackets 0. Slide the itermediate rail as show i the figure, ad the loosely attach the rail bracket to the outer rail with a plate ut (large) ad the two screws. The use of loger screws such as the screws (PSW x ) for fixig the rack agles will cause a malfuctio of the uit.. Slide the ball retaier i the directio of the arrow, ad the loosely attach the rail bracket to the outer rail with a plate ut (large) ad the two screws. Plate ut (large) Rail bracket uter rail 9. Attach the two rack agles to both sides (left ad right) of the uit with the four screws (PSW x ) supplied with the rack mout kit. 13 . Attachig the outer rails. Loosely attach the two outer rails to the middle of the U space i the rack for moutig this uit, with the eight hexago socket head cap screws, eight flat washers, ad four plate uts (small).. Check that the two itermediate rails attached to the rack are parallel. As show i the followig figure, adjust each frotside positio of the outer rails o both sides (left ad right) so that the distace from the surface of the rack to the tip of the rail becomes withi the rage of 0 to millimeters.. To fix the four rail brackets, fully tighte the eight loosely fitted rail bracket fixig screws (B x ) i steps ad. To fix the two outer rails to the rack, fully tighte the eight loosely fitted hexago socket head cap screws i step usig the L-shaped hexago wrech. -

14 . Moutig i rack c Be sure to carry the uit by the two persos or more.. Set each ball retaier to the positio as show i the figure i the directio of the arrow. Frot side. Slide the uit i ad out from the rack about three times ad check that the slide rails move smoothly. If they are ot smoothly, demout the uit ad go back to Attachig the outer rails (step ). c Whe demoutig the uit, carry it by the two persos or more. This uit does ot have the feet at this operatig. Put dow the uit o the floor or other, beig careful ot to damage the uit. Slide Ball retaier Itermediate rail. Pull equal legth of each rail o both sides out. 9. Lift the uit holdig the gripes o both sides, slowly isert the ier rails ito the itermediate rails. 0. While pressig each stopper of ier rails o both sides, slowly push the uit ito the rack. c Be careful ot to catch your figer or had i rack mout rail.. Push the uit i the depths of the rack. The uit is fixed to the rack by the lock mechaism. Attempt to pull the rack agles ad cofirm that the uit caot be pulled out of the rack.. Secure the uit to the rack with the four screws (RK x ) ad four orametal washers. Pull the ME wire for a few times with short steps to take up the tape iside the cassette. m. Be careful for the tape ot to catch i parts such as a flage of a tape guide.. Do t take the ME wire off the wire holder.. The ME wire liks with the T real table. The T real table rotates about / turs clockwise (take-up directio) by pullig the ME wire about mm.. Rotate the M gear of the threadig motor block i the arrow directio o the EJECT label by about a half tur to slack off the tape.. Pull the ME wire for a few times with short steps i the arrow directio o the EJECT label to take up the tape iside the cassette. 9. To wid up the tape ito the cassette, repeat steps ad. 0.
