4 Fine PRINT EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH Beth Daugherty How long have you been working at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library? Ten years. What is your current job? Local History Librarian. I also do computer training and reference. What other jobs have you had while employed at the library? None. How would you describe the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library? A friendly place to find the materials you need for research and entertainment. What book would you recommend? Images of America Stow and Munroe Falls. This book tells the story of our community through vintage photographs. Images were selected from the collections of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, and the Stow Historical and Munroe Falls Historical Societies. What is your favorite vacation spot? Most recently China. Other favorite spots are Ireland and Hawaii. What are your hobbies? Reading, gardening, traveling. What would people be surprised to know about you? I grew up in Ashtabula, the snow belt of Northeast Ohio. Do you have any pets? Yes, a yellow lab named Ricky. If you had one SMFPL service to recommend to a patron, what would it be? Downloadable audio books through the Ohio E-Book project. Writers Group 1st Thursday of the Month: 7 8 PM Whether you write fiction, nonfiction, essays, poems, blogs or haven t found your medium yet, come join our small, friendly critique group. Dianah McDonald will lead this writers group. Meetings will be held in the Stow Room with the exception of April through July when meetings will be in the Conference Room. Entry Pickup Mon., March 28, Noon - 8 PM Tues., March 29, 6-8 PM Needlework Show Hours Wed., March 23, 10 AM - 8 PM Thurs., March 24, 10 AM - 8 PM Fri., March 25, 10 AM - 5 PM Sat., March 26, 10 AM - 5 PM Sun., March 27, 1-4 PM Free admission. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Stow- Munroe Falls Public Library Secret Family Recipes featuring Lydia Gamble s Cheese Cake Crust: ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs 1 TBSP. sugar 1 TBSP. melted butter Filling: 3 pkgs. (8 oz.) cream cheese at room temperature 4 eggs 1 TSP. vanilla extract 1 cup sugar Topping: 2 cups sour cream 1 TBSP. sugar 1 TSP. vanilla extract Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Make crust: In medium bowl, combine crumbs, sugar, and butter mixing well. Spread evenly over bottom of 9 spring form pan, pressing lightly with fingertips. Refrigerate while filling is being prepared. Make filling: Add the cream cheese to the large bowl of an electric mixer and beat at medium speed until light. Add eggs, vanilla, and sugar and continue beating until creamy and light. Take crust out of the refrigerator and pour batter into pan. Bake for 35 minutes. Make topping: Put sour cream, vanilla and sugar into a medium bowl and mix together with a wooden spoon. Remove cheesecake from oven. Spread topping evenly over the surface of the cake. Return to the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and cool in pan on a wire rack. Then refrigerate for 5 hours or overnight. Looking for more cakes to bake? This year, the Caldecott Medal was awarded to Erin Stead for her illustrations in A Sick Day for Amos McGee and the Newbery Medal was given to Clare Vanderpool, author of Moon Over Manifest. The Printz Award was presented to Paolo Bacigalupi, author of Ship Breaker. A complete listing of both the Caldecott Winners and the Newbery Winners is available in the Children s Department. 7 Adult Winter Reading Program This winter is a purrfect time to Community Jazz Band Donates $500 warm up with a good book! Simply fill out a form for every book you listen to Doug Dotterer, Library Director, with a $500 or read and put the forms donation for the library. In addition to raising funds in the box at the front for the library, the jazz band provides free monthly desk.
