2 About Redtwist Theatre Redtwist Theatre, formerly Actors Workshop Theatre, embarked upon its first production as an itinerant company in 1994 with Simon Gray s Otherwise Engaged. AWT incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in May It produced five more plays before moving to its current home in the vibrant Bryn Mawr Historic District of the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago in the fall of Redtwist s first show in Edgewater, Praying Small, opened in September It was designated as a Critic s Choice by the Chicago Reader and was extended two times by popular demand. Michael Colucci, the founder of Redtwist Theatre, is the Artistic Director. His producing partner and wife, Jan Ellen Graves, is the Managing Director. In addition to acting, she directed the critically-acclaimed The American Clock by Arthur Miller and the Jeff-recommended plays Geezers and Aura, by company member, Tommy Lee Johnston. Michael s direction of All My Sons, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Three Hotels, That Face, and Broken Glass was also critically-acclaimed and Jeff-recommended. During Redtwist s time at the Bryn Mawr location, its productions have received 52 Jeff nominations and won 9 Non-Equity Jeff Awards including one for Best Production for Man from Nebraska in As of March 1, 2008, AWT s corporate name officially changed to Redtwist Theatre. 6 CAST Profiles (continued) Peter Brian Kelly (u/s David Frost) is delighted to work with Redtwist Theatre again after having been involved in the Jeff-nominated INCIDENT AT VICHY and DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Past productions include A MID- WINTER MUMMER S TALE at Terra Mysterium, THE FULL MONTY at Peninsula Players Theatre, and the World Premiere of WAKING LAZARUS with Prologue Theatre. Peter graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater with a BFA in Theatre Performance and a BBA in General Management. Bryan Kravitz (u/s Jim Reston) is more than honored to be a part of such an amazing Redtwist production. After earning a degree in acting from Columbia College Chicago, and graduating from The Second City s conservatory program, Bryan has gone on to acting in THE GLASS MENAGERIE (Jim O Connor) and PROOF (Harold Dobbs) with the Colorbox Theatre, as well as becoming an ensemble member of Theatre Momentum. Bryan would like to thank all of his friends and family for all their love and support as well Redtwist Theatre for the amazing opportunity to explore such an important time in our history. John Arthur Lewis (Jack Brennan) Two of John s favorite acting experiences in Chicago were Redtwist s Productions of RIDE DOWN MT. MORGAN and SHINING CITY. So he is extremely pleased to be back. Most recently, John played Gentleman in Organic s production of EMILIE. He will be back at Organic this summer as Troy in their original production of TIRESIAS WAS A WEATHERMAN. He is an artistic associate at Promethean Theatre Ensemble and was also a company member at Oracle Productions (RIP). Christopher Marcum (u/s Bob Zelnick) is thrilled to be working with Redtwist. Since coming to Chicago in 2004, he has worked with many great companies, including Factory Theater, The Plagiarists, Wayward Productions, and Promethean Theatre Ensemble. Malcolm Martinez (Manolo Sanchez, Technician 1) is thrilled to be making his long-delayed return to the stage at Redtwist Theatre. Heather Kae Smith (Caroline Cushing/Makeup Lady) is ecstatic to make her Redtwist debut! Johnny Garcia (Box Office Associate) was last seen in Anaemic Theatre s devised production of YIZKOR. He recently appeared in OUR TOWN at Redtwist, where he is the Development Outreach Coordinator. Elsewhere he appeared as Master Mino in the world premiere of LEDA, by Amy Crider, at the Cornservatory, and THE RIVER BRIDE with Halcyon Theatre, where he is an ensemble member. Other shows include: ELECTRA GARRIGÓ at The Right Brain Project, and THE DARK AGES: OTHO THE GREAT with Frank Farrell Productions. He directed SHOOTER by Jeff Helgeson at the final Abbie Hoffman Died For Our Sins Festival XXVIII. Josy Gonzalo (Assistant Stage Manager) acquired studies in Theatre and Philosophy in Venezuela and she gained a bachelor s degree in Media Arts at New Jersey City University in She returned to the theatre for YOHEN at Theatre Esprit Asia in Denver, CO, performing the roles of stage manager and props master. Since moving to Chicago last year, she is delighted to perform the duties of ASM at Redtwist for the fourth time this season. Special thanks on this production to Jenn Thompson. Sammi Grant (Vocal Coach) Sammi is thrilled to be working with Redtwist on this important production. Andrew Ashley Hatcher (Properties Designer) is a stage manager, props designer, and general theater-maker. A recent transplant from Austin, TX, this is first production at Redtwist Theatre and fourth in Chicago following the well-received productions of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (Porchlight Music Theatre), SEX WITH STRANGERS (Citadel Theatre), and BECKY SHAW (Windy City Playhouse). His work can also currently be seen in MEMPHIS at Porchlight. He is the only person to have won three consecutive Equity Jeff Awards for his work on THE LITTLE MERMAID at the Paramount Theatre (2017), DEATHTRAP at Drury Lane Theatre (2016), and LES MISERABLES at The Paramount Theatre (Co-Design with Kevin Depint in 2015). Jeffrey received his MFA from the University of Virginia and is a member of USA 829. Buzz Leer (Tech Director) recently was a Redtwist Theatre understudy for Jaime in I SAW MY NEIGHBOR..., Doc Gibb in OUR TOWN and recently took a new role as resident Technical Director at Redtwist for SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY utilizing his skills from Hosting the HGTV series HOUSE DETECTIVE for 5 seasons (65 episodes). Alyssa Mohn (Associate Scenic Designer) is a third year BFA Scenic Design student at The Theatre School at DePaul. This summer she will be a Faculty Associate for the National High School Institute Theatre Arts Program (Cherubs). She has worked on several productions as an assistant to Jeffrey Kmiec.
