I know my music isn t good enough. And I know I m not recording Broadcast Quality tracks in my home studio. Broadcast Quality can come in many forms. But for some reason, most people seem to think it s all about lush Orchestral pieces. I was surfing the TAXI Forum today and saw this post from successful TAXI member Jeff Greenleaf: I just heard 2 of my harmonica/slide guitar songs on MTV's Nitro Circus episode 9 (season finale)! They played both songs in entirety, which was very cool. I'll attach the songs and if you want to watch the episode it's in beginning of part 2 (from 5:27 6:14 and then 6:40 7:10). It frustrates me that so many people who can absolutely record Broadcast Quality tracks in their home studios are afraid their music or the recording and production thereof isn t good enough. Sure, Jeff Greenleaf has his act together and is certainly capable of recording tracks that are much more complex than these simple examples. But his post and these examples point out what I ve been telling you forever! Simple little one or two instrument pieces can work and DO get used. The secret to success is watching a lot of TV and learning what the market wants. You watch TV don t you? Are you watching it the right way is the question? Do you listen to all those subtle little tracks that are in the background? Haven t I been telling you over and over to take notes and you ll be shocked by how many of the tracks that you hear are just one or two instruments? Did you do it? Remember the recent TAXI newsletter where I talked about the fear of submitting your music? The opportunities are definitely out there. I know because TAXI consolidates so many of them for our members, making the process even easier. And what often happens for TAXI members like Jeff is that they get one track picked up by a film and TV publisher and can submit directly to them after TAXI opens the door for them to a longstanding relationship. Will you get picked up on your first submission? Probably not. Will you make your first year s membership fee back in hurry? Not likely, although it has happened. Realistically, what will happen is that you ll learn how to submit effectively over time. The feedback you ll get will show you how to write, record and produce tracks and songs that have a greater probability of success over time. And while you re likely to crawl at first, over time, you ll walk! Eventually you ll run like Jeff Greenleaf is now. The opportunities are passing you by every day. Thinking about starting the process won t help you. Putting one foot after another will. I think John Lawrence Schick summed it up best on the JPF forum: 1

2 Humans are a strange breed when it comes to spending money. They have their priorities. I know people that spend over two grand on cigarettes a year (and double that on beer and booze). People drop a hundred a week on fast food, and think nothing of spending a grand a year on lottery tickets (talk about odds).
