Back in 2009, I made a connection with a film/tv music publisher through a TAXI forward. That one relationship alone has garnered placements in over 22 shows and 4 specials to date (over 70 episodes collectively, many with multiple placements per episode). That publisher continues to send me frequent custom requests, which have sharpened my skills, broadened my styles, and increased my production and delivery speed. I'm proud to say that within the last two weeks, I've secured the main title theme to MTV's upcoming hidden camera show "Totally Clueless," and the main title theme for [at least] the first episode of E!'s "Married to Jonas. I've been a member of TAXI since It's been a tough climb, but thanks to TAXI (and my supportive and understanding wife), I'M ABLE TO DO MUSIC FULL TIME no signs of slowing down here! Thanks Michael and TAXI Staff! Clay Butler Quitting Your Day Gig and Doing Music Full Time Isn t that every musician s dream? We are starting to get more and more s from members like Clay Butler who are using TAXI as the launching pad to accomplish that goal. Casey Hurowitz seems to give out the formula on this recent post about a publishing deal he got on a song he wrote with another TAXI member, Paul Otten: THANK YOU TAXI! I just found out that a song I co wrote with [fellow TAXI member] Paul Otten for a TAXI listing a few months back, A Long, Long Day, was accepted by a highly selective Los Angeles based music library If it weren't for TAXI, the Forum, and [TAXI s free, members only convention] the Road Rally, I would have never co written with someone as amazingly talented as Paul. And if I hadn't learned so much about film/tv music though everything TAXI, I probably wouldn't have started the song. And if it weren't for the TAXI listing, Paul and I probably would have never finished it. Thank you so much, TAXI. And thank you Paul, of course! I think this member s Forum post explains why: Had an opportunity to discuss TAXI with a few people at [another] a music related conference. I used the line that I have seen Michael write, "The Rally alone is worth the price of the TAXI Membership." I m not going to bash any other conferences for musicians. There are things that can be learned from any class/conference. However, I will say that [the other] conference was a biggie, and I now have an even greater appreciation for the Road Rally. The TAXI Road Rally: Is very organized. Has classes that start on time. Has popular classes scheduled throughout the day. (Not three at one time slot) Has time to change classes without rushing only to get a seat in the back. Has classes that present skills and information with minimal focus on the presenters product or sales pitches. Has a much better environment for networking, collaboration and performing. $300 for [first year TAXI membership, which includes TWO FREE tickets to the Road Rally] is less than the cost of 1 ticket to some industry conferences. I'm sure every conference has room for improvement, but TAXI is doing a lot of things right. Whether or not the guys [I spoke to] will join, I have no idea. But if you are already a TAXI member and you don t take advantage of the Rally, you are missing out. If there is any way to attend, you will get more than your money's worth. James PLEASE NOTE! QUOTING THE COMPANY: I want artists/bands who are interested in working closely with one agent who will work to develop artists to the music supervision community. We re looking for a potentially long term and mutually beneficial relationship. That being said, this isn t a one off type opportunity.
