Be sure to have a look at all the wonderful things happening at the library this month, for they are plentiful. As we look ahead to the Apple Festival, final Farmer s Market festivities, and the grand finale of Summer Reading, please enjoy the September edition of the Greene Gab! The library is inviting high school seniors in Greene County to participate in the Literacy Coalition s Essay Contest! All you have to do is tell us how books have influenced your life in under 250 words. Essays are due by Friday, September 15. See page 4 for more information! And don t forget about the annual Literacy Coalition Meeting on September 28! Whether you want to be a tutor, help out, or just know what the Literacy Coalition is about, we invite everyone to come and join us for free food and fun! The annual Apple Festival Art & Photography Show is coming up in October! The flyer can be found on page 3, and rules can be found on our website. The rules have changed this year. The library will have a presence every week this month, so be sure to stop by! Hello Greene County. Another busy month gone. School started summer is gone. The leaves are already turning color. Friends of the Library Book Sale Friday Sept 1st & Saturday Sept. 2nd. 12:00pm Friday 3:00pm Saturday We delivered 133 Pre-K books to Day Care Centers this month. We also delivered 168 books to the Little Free Libraries in Greene County. We also serviced Senior Apartment Complexes and Senior Centers. A new total for the Tulip Trestle: 23,888 books have passed through there! I need more children s books to keep up. Have a Blessed Day, Bob This September marks the 30th anniversary of Library Card Sign-Up Month a time when the American Library Association joins public libraries nationwide to highlight the value of a library card. We encourage readers everywhere to sign up!

3 The annual Apple Festival Art/Photography Show at the library is coming up in just over a month! Submit 2D 3D art and photographs to be viewed in the library during the Apple Festival! Monday, September 18: Teen Movie Night: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 6 5:00-7:30 Spend an evening watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 6. Rated PG-13. Snacks and soda will be provided. Grades 7-12 welcome. Friday, September 22: Celebrate Hobbit Day 3:00-5:00 Drop in the Teen Room to find out your Hobbit name and family history. Grades 6-12 welcome. Thursday, September 28: A Gathering of Gamers 3:30-5:30 Spend an afternoon playing your favorite games, including board games, card games, and Wii games. Grades 7-12 welcome. Pick up your game sheet. The hunt will include both floors of the library. There are 20 ghosts to locate as well as 20 ghosts who will try to trick you. Turn your completed game sheet in for prizes. Grades 5-12 welcome.

The library just added one to our collection that you should check out today! A Country Wedding is one of the newest releases from the Hallmark Channel starring Jesse Metcalfe as a Bradley Suttons and Autumn Reeser as Sarah Standor. Bradley, a country singing superstar, comes back to his hometown to sell his childhood home and finds that his next door neighbor (Sarah) has grown up. As Sarah helps Bradley clean out his barn for his upcoming wedding, they flashback to their childhood memories of playing in the lofts and even holding their own pretend wedding! Now all Bradley has to do is choose where his heart truly belongs. This movie is a must see. It will get your heart to beating and your boots to stomping, so check it out today! Book: While this movie was not based on a specific book, I would recommend reading The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks.

Did you know that the Friends of the Library offers a corporate/business membership for area businesses and organizations at a price of just $300/year? Enjoy the perks of being a Friends member year-round for all employees/officials, such as $2 bags of items in our book sale year-round and early access to special sales at the library. Corporate/business memberships can help the library add to the online databases that we are able to provide to those we serve. Thanks to a donation from the Classic Cruisers Car Club the library was able to go live with the Chilton Auto Repair database in December Thanks to a donation from Cook Group, Inc. the library went live with World Book Online in August 2017!
