Jubilate Commissioned, in celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II s Diamond Jubilee, by Kaitol Promotions Ltd., for the 2012 National Chamionshis of Great Britain, first section final. Comoser s notes: The work is slit into three contrasting sections that run continuously, with music derived from elements of Sir Hubert Parry s 1902 coronation anthem I Was Glad. In Memoriam evokes the noble but gentle ersonality of the Queen s father, King George VI. Oening with an atmosheric baritone solo (and later featuring solo horn, flugel horn, euhonium & solo cornet), the music exlores themes of grief, sentimentality and hoe. Coronation, a fanfare and subsequent theme which is grandiose in style, caturing the sirit and excitement of British om and ceremony. The closing Jubilate is a celebration of life and family values, Vivat being latin for life, or long live. The music asses through moments of tension, virtuosity, humour and jubilance before a finale constructed from connected musical fragments, drawn from throughout the work, form (for the first time) Parry s majestic I Was Glad theme. About the Comoser: Tom Davoren originally hails from the icturesque Gower eninsula in South Wales. He has quickly develoed a reutation as an exciting brass-wind comoser and conductor, his music being commissioned, erformed by artistes including the Royal Northern College of Music Wind Orchestra (UK), Leyland Band (UK), Desford Colliery Band (UK), BTM Band (UK), Gunnedah Shire Band (Australia), Pelorus Trust Wellington Band (NZ), Central Band of the Royal Air Force (UK), British Association of Symhonic Bands and Wind Ensembles (BASBWE), The National Brass Band Chamionshis of Great Britain, Brett Baker, Glenn Van Looy, Jonathan Pien, Harmen Vanhoorne and Kristy Rowe. His work has been featured at concerts, contests and festivals across the world, and has been recorded for CD release and broadcast on BBC Radio. He has also been a BASCA British Comoser Award nominee in 2011 and a rizewinner at the EBBA Euroean Comosers Cometition Tom is also the Artistic Director of Cardiff New Brass Festival and held the osition of Professional Musical Director with the BTM Brass Band throughout He is also active as a music journalist, writing for brass ublications and managing the journal of the BritishAssociation of Symhonic Bands and Wind Ensembles - Winds. studiomusic LONDON
