As we mve t the clse f a wnderful 2018, we have already shifted ur fcus tward the prductin f the Santa Fe Indian Market fr The dates are August 17 and 18, We are lking frward t ur 98 th annual, legacy event. Enclsed yu will find the ARTIST APPLICATION and INSTRUCTIONS, the CITY OF SANTA FE SPECIAL EVENTS LICENSE APPLICATION, and the YOUTH BOOTH SHARER APPLICATION. NOTE: The Indian Market Applicatin MUST INCLUDE yur Special Events License Applicatin (SELA) r yur applicatin will be cnsidered INCOMPLETE. PLEASE NOTE: 4 items t nte n this year s Santa Fe Indian Market Applicatin: 1. ALL artists must submit dcumentatin f their Certificate f Degree f Indian Bld (CDIB) r a cpy f the frnt and back f their enrllment card in a federally recgnized tribe. Any artist prviding an alternative dcument must request Bard cnsideratin r risk disqualificatin. 2. ALL artists must apply each year and submit images fr jurying. 3. Three (3) images are needed fr each classificatin yu are applying fr, (5) fr full-time cllabratrs submitting in separate classificatins; images t: images@swaia.rg OR mail a Disc r USB Thumb-drive t the SWAIA ffice. 4. Indian Market 2019 will allw a Market artist t shw utside their accepted classificatin prvided their wrk meets SWAIA Standards. Indian Market 2020 will allw artists t shw nly in their accepted classificatin. ALL ARTISTS MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IMAGES- An all juried shw ensures that the SWAIA reputatin fr quality, high standards, and fairness remain intact. The finest artists in Indian Cuntry shuld be shwcased at the greatest art market in the wrld, regardless f age, gender, r tribe. Please submit images f yur strngest wrk. The jurying prcess is entirely merit-based n images f yur wrk. Persnal Accuntability: Please ensure yur applicatin is cmplete! All artists are required t submit the full applicatin, applicatin fee, and images. We DO ACCEPT hard cpies, but an nline applicatin ges directly int the system ensuring that the infrmatin we receive is as crrect as yu input it. If yu have any issues regarding yur applicatin, please cntact the ffice; ur staff wuld be happy t help. SWAIA is nt respnsible fr applicatins sent by mail that are delayed, lst, r destryed. If yu are mailing in yur applicatin, please send with delivery cnfirmatin r certified mail and keep yur receipts. Artists are als respnsible fr knwing SWAIA Standards and Artist Plicies. Yuth: All yuth artists (Age 17 and yunger at time f Market) are required t submit an applicatin. Yuths applying alne are required t cmplete a regular adult applicatin including the City f Santa Fe SELA and submit 3 images. Yuth sharing with an accepted adult SWAIA artist are required t nly cmplete the shrt Yuth Sharer applicatin. The City f Santa Fe nw requires a SELA frm yuth artists; fr this reasn we require a $10 fee fr each yuth artist listed under the adult artist accepted int Market. 2 2019 Santa Fe Indian Market Applicatin Instructins S.F.I.M APPLICATION A. Eligibility Requirements All applicants must present dcumentatin that the artist is an enrlled member f a United States r Canadian federally recgnized tribe r Alaskan Crpratin in the frm f a Certificate f Indian Bld Card (CIB/CDIB), tribal enrllment number and/r Secured Certificate f Indian Status Card (CIS/SCIS). If yu have previusly shwn at Santa Fe Indian Market yu still must prvide the apprpriate dcuments each year yu apply. Anything that des nt meet this requirement is subject t Bard review and can disqualify the artist at any pint. B. Applicatin Fee There are 2 Different Fees depending n whether yu apply Online r with a Hard-Cpy (Paper) applicatin. i. Hard-Cpy: Applicatins and a $50 (HARD COPY) nn-refundable applicatin fee must be pstmarked n later than Friday, January 18, 2019, OR; ii. Online: The nline applicatin and a $35 (ONLINE) nn-refundable applicatin fee must be submitted nline by 11:59pm MST Friday, January 18, Please Nte: Online frm will be available at A dwnladable PDF will als be n the website, but yu must MAIL (Certified recmmended) r HAND DELIVER that versin f the applicatin. Declined credit/debit cards r applicatins received after 5pm (hard cpy)/11:59pm MST (nline) n January 18 are subject t the $100 late fee (Ttals- $135 nline; $150 hard cpy) and this may delay r prhibit yur acceptance int Indian Market. SWAIA will als have a cmputer kisk set up at the ffice (M-F, 10am-4pm) t fill ut yur applicatin if yu wuld like assistance (Yu must bring 3 images with yu). The nline frm cuts dwn n the amunt f prcessing required fr hard cpy applicatins and cuts dwn n the ptential errrs in persnal infrmatin that happen with hand-prcessing hard cpy applicatins. If yu d nt wish t share, fr any reasn, SWAIA will nt assign a sharer in yur bth. If yu wuld like t share, fr any reasn, please prvide the full name f any sharer(s)- they must agree t share. If yu wuld like t share a bth but d nt knw smene with whm t share, we will gladly find smene. Please als cmplete the Yuth Bth Sharer Applicatin fr ALL children that will be selling with yu in yur bth. As a sharer, yu are nly respnsible fr yur prtin f the bth fee. There is a maximum f 3 sharers

3 (nt including yuth) per bth. Bth fees are NOT due until yu have received an fficial acceptance letter frm SWAIA. All sharers must be accepted SWAIA artists. C. Digital Images All artists must submit images fr yur wrk in rder t cmplete yur applicatin. Please fllw the instructins carefully. Make sure yur CD/DVD/USB is clearly labeled. Be sure t als label yur data files crrectly. We d nt accept slides. If yu DO NOT submit images, yur applicatin will be cnsidered INCOMPLETE. The quality f yur images is critically imprtant. Prly cmpsed, blurry, busy r images imprperly sized (less than 500 kb) will affect yur jury scres. If yur disc is unreadable, yu are respnsible fr getting SWAIA readable images immediately. Acceptable Media: Yu can yur images t: images@swaia.rg This will be the primary means f nline image submissin. We must be able t match up yur applicatin with the images and descriptins (Image file name is key). Yu must include Name (Last, First) and Classificatin(s) n the Subject line. Please send separate s per Classificatin yu are submitting fr, if yu are applying fr multiple Classificatins. File names and size are key t image submissin. With ur data space needs we ask that yu limit file size fr each image t 5 Megabytes r 5MB. CD/DVD/USB. Please use a CD-R r CD-RW disk t save yur images n. Fr artists entering in multiple classificatins, please submit SEPARATE disks fr EACH classificatin submissins. Fr example, an artist entering int Painting as well as Textiles wuld submit 2 disks, ne disk with painting images, and a 2 nd disk with the textile images. Clearly label each classificatin n each disk. Save yur files as: Last name, First name01, Last name, First name02, Last name, First name03 (jpeg), prnunced, jaypeg. Make sure the file type is a jpeg. Labeling f Disk(s)/USB ARTIST NAME LAST 4 # s f SSN CLASSIFICATION SFIM Artist Full Name and last 4# s f Scial Security Number Classificatin AND Santa Fe Indian Market 2019 (SFIM 2019) Example: Class I: Jewelry OR simply labeling Jewelry is acceptable. Artist Full Name Last 4 f SSN S.F.I.M Editing: Yu may NOT edit yur image in any way t enhance yur artwrk. Crpping r resizing yur images t meet the size requirements is fine. If yur medium is digital phtgraphy, resize yur final as described abve image t meet the requirements. Phtgraphy tips: Digital Camera- using a digital camera instead f scanning a hard cpy phtgraph will give the best results. Digital images will allw yu the pprtunity t resize yur image withut lsing detail. Set yur digital camera t capture images in the high-quality/lw cmpressin JPEG frmat. Yu will maintain maximum detail. Use a tripd t steady yur sht and use a neutral backgrund clr (Black r gray is best). Lighting- Lighting affects images at varying degrees. Use the brightest lights pssible. Sht utside if yu d nt have full spectrum bulbs. Disk images- please use a clean disk fr yur submissins. SWAIA will nt srt thrugh hundreds f vacatin phts t find yur jurying images. Only 3 images are needed. If we find mre than 3 images, we will use image # s 1, 2 & 3 and discard the rest. The mre prfessinal and high-res (300 dpi standard) yur images are (within size limits 500 kb-5mb each), the mre chance they will be used by SWAIA fr prmtinal purpses. E. Santa Fe Indian Market Yuth Artists All yuth ages 17 years and yunger by August 17, 2019 must apply as either a Yuth Sharer r as a Yuth Applying Alne. This ensures that the yuth artist will be issued an fficial SWAIA badge and get nted in the Market Guide. Yuth Sharer- Yuth Sharer artists may sell their wrk in their parent s bth. There is NO applicatin fee fr yuth Sharers until their relative is accepted, then the $10 SELA fee per yuth must be paid when the bth payment is due. Yuth Applying Alne- Yuth artists may als apply t have their wn bth withut an adult by filling ut the standard Indian Market applicatin. Yuths Applying Alne must pay the applicatin and bth fee. All yuth artists may submit items fr judging in the Yuth Classificatin. F. Artist Cllabratins SWAIA defines a cllabrative wrk as tw r mre SWAIA artists wrking tgether t prduce ne piece f art. There are tw types f cllabratrs. 1. Artistic Cllabratrs accepted artists wh apply individually and prir t May 31, ntify SWAIA f the cllabrative piece they plan t submit fr jurying. 2. Full-time cllabratrs artists wh create all f their pieces tgether. Full-time cllabratrs share the same acceptance/wait list/nn-acceptance status. Full-time cllabratrs pay the same fees as the individual artist. If bth artists are applying in the same categry they submit three (3) images. If bth artists are applying in separate classificatins, they submit five (5) images with the suggestin that three images are the cllabrative pieces and tw (2) images are fr each artist t highlight their prtin f the piece (clse-ups recmmended fr these tw additinal images). Please nte any prize mnies are t be shared equally between artists.
