Major theatrical releases from War Horse to the Life of Pi were supported by resources, iciema preview screeigs, traiig evets ad workshops for teachers ad questio ad aswer sessios with studets ivolvig the likes of Michael Morpurgo, Cuba Goodig Jr ad the cast of Fast Girls was the most popular year i the twelve-year history of Teachig Trailers. This resource is ow released twice a year to cover the sprig ad summer theatrical releases. Programmed especially for teachers ad lecturers of film ad media, the aual Film Idustry Coferece offered a exclusive behid-the-scees audiece with the people who brig you the biggest blockbusters ad the best i specialised ciema from aroud the world. This oe-day evet cosidered the UK film idustry from a educatioal perspective explorig productio, distributio, exhibitio ad the future of ciema. The two days covered areas ragig from acquisitios to marketig ad studets chose to atted either or both sessios depedig o their areas of iterest. Idustry professioals discussed behid-the-scees case studies coverig a rage of careers ad studets had may opportuities to put their questios to them throughout the day. 495 studets participated i the career days. I partership with the Uiversity of Westmister Film Educatio worked with a Year 3 class, their teachers ad film producer Paul Trijbits to make a film i a day at Westmister Uiversity. This veue was chose because of its film history coectios (it was the first screeig room to show Lumière Brothers films i Lodo). Childre watched ad aalysed Lumière Brothers films, compared them to the recet Sow White re-tellig: Mirror Mirror, the shot ad edited a scee from the film. The teachers were impressed with the egagemet ad focus of the 29 childre i the class. 5

I total 575 orgaisatios ad compaies partered with the small Film Week team at Film Educatio to deliver a successful Natioal Schools Film Week i I additio the team maaged 218 idividuals presetig supportig educatioal evets ad liaised with 10 regioal radio statios ad hudreds of local ad regioal ewspaper reporters. Natioal Schools Film Week , , ,000 Attedace Cost 300, , , This level of partership workig, scalability, ad value for moey approach resulted i the cost to Film Educatio of Film Week 2012 averagig 33p per attedee! 7 EXPANDING ENGAGEMENT WITH THE CINEMA EXPERIENCE CINESCHOOL AUTISM-FRIENDLY SCREENINGS Over 6,000 pupils ad staff from 156 schools atteded a autism-friedly film evet o the 26th April i celebratio of Natioal Autism Awareess Moth ad to highlight the ogoig commitmet of distributors ad exhibitors to improve access to ad ejoymet of the ciema experiece for childre ad youg people with sesory ad cogitive impairmets ad physical disabilities. The screeigs complemeted the existig autism-friedly activities of exhibitors ad were aimed at studets with autism ad sesory differeces that would beefit from the subtle alteratios made to the ciema auditorium, eablig them to atted the ciema with their eurotypical classmates i a iclusive eviromet. 66 ciemas from three ciema chais (Odeo, Apollo ad Picturehouse) ad oe idepedet (Phoeix Ciema) took part. Durig the special screeigs of Disey s The Muppets lights were left o low, the volume tured dow ad pupils could move aroud the ciema or make oise as they felt comfortable. There were supportig educatioal evets at 59 of the screeigs ad teachers were provided with film-related resources for use i the classroom. We partered Uiversity College Lodo ad Machester Metropolita Uiversity i workshops for teachers o the use of film i the classroom ad across the curriculum. 8
