The library serves a diverse community with various needs. Over the last three most recent years, we ve seen a shift in what our community likes most about the library. Therefore, we have been focusing on entertainment and home enjoyment activities. This includes programs involving music, crafts, movies and of course reading. If you look for programs, you will notice that we are targeting our audience in various areas with librarians specializing in each area: Children (ages one year to 9), Tweens (10 to 12), Teens (13 to 19), Quarter Life (20 to 35), Adults, and Super Seniors. Of course there is a cross over at every level where everyone is welcome. Some of our programs are regularly scheduled like our Book Clubs, story times, Yu Gi Oh and various crafts while others are special programs or activities as we are able to offer. That is also to say that we are extremely interested in continuing and developing more literary and cultural events. The library is in touch to bring a variety of speakers from diverse backgrounds coming of colleges, medical, environmental and business lecturers. For parents, our teachers and educators are always willing to talk. All you need to do is to let us know of an interest where others might join you and we ll make it happen. Inside the library, you may have noticed some changes too. We re moving things around a bit to make things easier to find and more focused on what you need. You may notice that our fiction labeling is changing. The top letter will be F for fiction and the first three letters of the author s name. Easy. Audio books and videos are now in the same section and we put our newest material or feature material right up front as you walk in, so you find them fast. Non-fiction stays the same. In the Children s area, things are moving around too. Series books will be in one place. All Children s books will be consolidated just to the letter J for juvenile and followed underneath by the first three letters of the author s name. If you see J or JF or JFP in the catalog just look for J on the shelf. Simple. Teen books now have their own section of shelving right outside their computers. The books are arranged by just what you re looking for Sci-Fi, Romance, Mystery, Graphic Novels obvious. So find us in your monthly Shopper s Guide for programs. Come in and check us out, spread the word about our books, media, programs, garden, and updated computers. All of this is not to forget our great supporters like the Friends of the Library who are always encouraging and looking to help as well as numerous township departments, Library Board, non-profits like Rotary and Lions, volunteers and local businesses in the community who make this library, Your library, the best that it can be.

2 Friends of the Library Meeting Monday, February 1st, 2:00PM The Friends of the Library group is a great way to get involved in your Library & your community. Join us! The Friends are once again collecting used fiction, cookbooks and children s books on Mondays from 11AM-1PM and 5PM-7PM (when the Library is open.) for their annual book sale in April. Needle Arts Group Wednesday, February 3rd & 17th, 6:30PM Do you knit or crochet? Like to do embroidery, needlepoint, beading, quilting or other needlework? Bring a current project to work on in a fun and informal atmosphere. All levels of experience are welcome. This is not a class. However, sharing of tips and experience are encouraged. No registration required. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea Monday, February 8, 12pm 2pm In honor of the birthday of Jules Verne, we present one of the best movie adaptations of one of his novels, courtesy of Walt Disney. A scientist and his assistant, together with a roguish sailor, set out to discover the truth about the supposed "sea monster" that has been attacking warships. They end up discovering what seemed an impossibility at that time--a ship that sails beneath the waves, helmed by the misguided genius Captain Nemo (James Mason). Anne of the Thousand Days Monday, February 22, 12:00pm 2:30pm Before there was "The Tudors", there was this stunning depiction of the epic romance between Henry VIII (Richard Burton) and Anne Boleyn (Genevieve Bujold). The fiery Anne catches the eye of the King, who has just finished an affair with her sister. He is all the more attracted to her for being the only woman who ever resisted him--a dangerous thing to do to one who has absolute power. But Anne, not wanting to be a discarded mistress like her sister, insists on marriage or nothing. To gain her, Henry rocks the foundation of his country and his Church so he can divorce his current queen. Anne finds herself head over heels in love with the charismatic King who would do all this to win her...but when she does not give birth to a son, it could mean her doom.

Wednesday, February 10th, 6:30PM This is a Creative Writing Group looking for fun and creative, artistic writers who find it hard to stay motivated to write. Join us as we encourage each other in maintaining a writing schedule with the goal of using writing as a tool of empowerment, healing and personal discovery. 4 Sojourner Truth: Ain't I a Woman? Monday, February 8, 7pm 8pm Sojourner Truth is portrayed by Dr. Daisy Century of the American Historical Theater. Century gives a commanding performance of Ms. Truth, bringing to life a woman who was born a slave, traveled as a preacher and spoke on women s suffrage and the abolition of slavery. She mixed with the leading figures of her day, including Susan B. Anthony, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Ulysses S. Grant. This program is funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. This Month s Art Display Bob Reid, Abstract Painter, Educator, Photographer This month we are proud to present works by Bob Reid. Bob is an avid library supporter by regularly volunteering his work as well as promoting the works of the Gloucester County Art League. Bob s love of abstract painting dates back to the 1950 s when he first encountered the work of Jackson Pollack. He pursued both painting and photography in the 1960 s. Then he put his interest in abstract expression aside until Art for Bob is meditation. His art represents his state of mind at the time it was created. His paintings evolve out of whirlpools of darkness, purity, light and color; all intertwined with one another. Bob is a member of the Gloucester County Art League and serves on the Board of Directors of Salem County Art League. Bob is also a member of art Educators of Southern New Jersey and is teaching Color Theory at Rowan College at Gloucester County. Read more about Bob and his work now on display. Special Announcement Beginning March 1st fines for overdue books will increase to $0.20 per item, per day. This increase was approved by the Library Board of Trustees at the January meeting. Remember, you get two renewals as long as there are no holds on your material. You can call the library or go online to renew. We even have a smartphone app to make keeping track of you due dates easy. Always forgetting when your books are due?
