1 3-D Book Report Biography in a Box DUE DATE: May 10,2018 Late book reports will result in a letter grade deduction for every late day. Please do not be late! Directions: First, select a famous person that you are interested in learning more about. Biography books can be checked-out from our classroom library or from our school library. Selected books are to be approved by me prior to reading. Students are to select a biography that they have not read before.your actual book report will be creatively displayed in pizza box, which will be provided by your teacher. What to do: First make the pizza box, folding the sides up to create your When decorating your box, please be sure to cover up the pizza box in its entirety. You should not be able to know that this was a pizza box from Pizza Hut. Some students have opted to paint the box first which helps to maintain a clean, polished look. The top of the box must have the biography person s name and some kind of decoration. The base of the box: The three sides around the base of the box are for a time-line with at least 7-10 events from the person s life. This can be placed on the inside of the base of the box or on the outside of the base of the The inside top cover will be facts or trivia about the person along with photos or mementos (a reminder, a souvenir). It should be covered so that no pizza wording remains. The example below shows facts about Clara Barton with typed facts about her life. The inside box [where the pizza would be] is where a 3-D representation of this person s life goes. It needs to be something that from seeing the other parts of the box, a reader would be able to connect to this person s life. It holds the most point value of the project. The rubric which tells you how you will be graded on your project is below. Use the rubric to guide you as you complete your project. 4 Grading: Students will receive two grades for their book report: 1 ) 3-D Biography Box Book Report and 2 ) Oral Presentation. Biography 3-D Box Book Report Rubric Category 100 Outstanding 90 Proficient 80 Satisfactory 60 Unsatisfactory Required Elements (These elements are from your graphic organizer) Title, Author s Name, Timeline, Quotation, and any Picture Captions 3-D Graphics (Base of the box) Attractiveness Grammar The box includes all required elements as well as additional information. All written work is in the student s very best writing, bold, and large enough to be read. All graphics are related to the topic and very easy to understand. Several of the graphics selected are 3-D and exceptionally organized. All space is utilized and well there are no empty spaces. The box is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout, and neatness. The pizza box is completely covered. 6 Biography Book Report Oral Presentation-Rubric You will be graded on How well you know your researched subject.
