'The Good Dinosaur' imagines an Earth where dinosaurs never died out and now co-exist with humans. This fun-filled journey of two unlikely heroes is one of ultimate friendship. As a young Apatosaurus named Arlo and a feral boy named Spot learn the power of confronting their fears in this strange new world, together they discover who they are truly meant to be. Starting at 2.30pm, the service takes place in the Museum's historic Darby Hand Chapel and includes a traditional carol service. 5 Black Country Museum - Christmas In The Home Black Country Museum, Tipton Road, Dudley, DY1 4SQ Saturday 21st November - Sunday 20th December 2015 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Witness some festive domestic bliss in the Museum s Christmas in the Home seasonal activities. The period houses and cottages will each be running their own activities and demonstrations, taking visitors back to the sights, sounds and smells of a magical Christmas past for their Christmas in the Home weekends. Step inside period cottages and houses and help costumed characters create a host of fabulous festive recipes from the one and only Mrs Beeton s Book of Household Management. All the family can get involved to help stir the sixpence into the Christmas pudding in the Museum s historic kitchens. Head on over to the Canalside Village where you ll find mince pies being made in the back to backs as well as gingerbread men being made over a 1920s cast iron range. There will be plenty of traditional activities to get hands on with too. Why not help out the costumed characters with some make do and mend Christmas decorations? Or you could craft and take away your very own spiced orange pomander to fill your home with the traditional smells of Christmas. Brierley Hill Christmas Festival 6k Santa Jog The Dell Sports Stadium, Bryce Road, Brierley Hill, DY5 4NE Saturday 5th December Registration from 9.30am am. Event Starts at 11.30am Brierley Hill Christmas Festival Children's Santa Jog The Dell Sports Stadium, Bryce Road, Brierley Hill, DY5 4NE The 6km jog route will start with one lap of the stadium then straight out onto the Stourbridge Extension Canal and head southwest for just over 1km. At the junction with the main Stourbridge Canal the route doglegs over the Canal bridge and follows the Stourbridge Canal (which joins with the Dudley Canal at Delph locks) to reach the Waterfront. The jog finishes outside the Offices of Age UK, Dudley at Springboard Centre, Units 44-47, Waterfront East, Level Street DY5 1XJ. There will be free parking at both the Dell and the Waterfront. The Santa Jog is not a race, but the first woman and man to finish will be timed and receive a prize. They will also set the course 'record' for next year. The entry fee is 5 and free for year olds. Event Starts at 10.15am The Wheelchair friendly course at the Dell Stadium is free for children aged 5-11 years. Children can choose to run 400m, 800m 1.2k or 1.6k equivalent to 1, 2, 3 or 4 laps of the track. They can even change their mind part way through! Children can run on their own or be accompanied by an adult. It's all about having fun and getting involved, so the Children's Jog won't be timed. Trips last 1 hour and run every 30 minutes. Why take the kids to Lapland to see Santa this Christmas when they can visit him by boat in his underground grotto deep in the Dudley Caverns? Just imagine your children s faces as they visit Santa on a magical illuminated journey that truly brings the festive season to life with fun and excitement. It s a dramatically different way to get into the festive spirit. There ll be music, our famous pantomime (this year it s Little Red Riding Hood) and, of course, gifts for all the children. These trips last an hour, with boats leaving every half hour between 10am and 5pm. They will run at weekends and variuous days throughout December.
