1 Installatin Pyramix 10.1 Release Ntes Please cnsult the Installatin Guide lcated n the Pyramix Installatin Media (USB Memry card) fr details n the hardware and sftware installatin prcedure and Authrizatin Key registratin prcess. RAVENNA users will have t install the NET-MSC-GBEX1 PCIe Ethernet card prvided by Merging Technlgies. TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF (shut dwn then switch the pwer ff). Next plug the NET- MSC-GBEX1 card int ne f the PCI-Express bus slts n yur cmputer and turn the pwer back n. The NET-MSC-GBEX1 card will nly be peratinal nce the MassCre runtime is installed. Refer t the Pyramix Installatin Guide fr mre details. T install the Pyramix Virtual Studi sftware insert the Pyramix Virtual Studi Installatin Media - the installatin prgram shuld aut-start. T install MassCre launch the MT Security Settings, g t the MassCre page and install the MassCre RunTime (a MassCre base key is required alng with MassCre 64bit and a RTX64 key). 2 Pyramix v10.1 Install Prcedure Additinal details n the System Requirements available in the Pyramix V10.1 Installatin Guide. INSTALLER INFORMATION: Pyramix v10 is cmpatible with the fllwing OS Windws 7 Prfessinal (64bit): MassCre/RAVENNA, Native & Native/RAVENNA Windws 8.1 Prfessinal (64bit): Native & Native/RAVENNA supprt ONLY (n MassCre). Ntes: RAVENNA users must install the NET-MSC-GBEX1 PCIe Ethernet card prvided by. Refer t the Pyramix v10.1 Install guide fr details As f Pyramix v10 the Mykerins and 32bit Operating systems are n lnger supprted Pyramix v10.1 cmes with a new MassCre update The HASP security dngles are nt supprted fr users running the 64bit installer n a Windws 7 64bit OS. Fr such cnfiguratin yu must purchase a SafeNet dngle, see with yur lcal Merging sales ffice The Pyramix v10 installer cmes nly as a 64bit versin (64bit OS) Warning the Pyramix v10.1 are nt cmpatible with v10.0 prject. Make sure yu use the Save Special as 10.0 t be able t pen such prject in the Pyramix v10.0 versin. INSTALLATION: User must refer t the Pyramix v10.1 Installatin Guide We highly recmmend users t perfrm a Windws update prir t installing Pyramix v10.1 Pyramix v10 users must have valid v10 keys (previus v9 are n lnger valid) Warning: Flux VS3 users must remve their previus Flux VS3 versin and install the Flux VS3 fr Pyramix v10 this nw has t be dne thrugh the Flux Center applicatin RECOMENDATIONS: MassCre: Pyramix v10 requires v10 keys. Pyramix v10.1 requires a New MassCre update (Interval zer Service Pack 2) A MassCre Key is required as f the Pyramix v10.0 Refer t Pyramix v10 Installatin Guide fr all details as sme specific BIOS settings are recmmended. MassCre RTX -64 bit users can run with Hyperthreading enabled. Merging recmmends Hyperthreading users t run with the MassCre SMP key. As f Pyramix v10.1 MassCre user will need t uninstall their previus MassCre befre updating t the latest versin (refer t the Pyramix installatin Guide) Users running MassCre 64bit will nt be able t mve their license t anther system (r the same system after a Windws re-installatin) unless first making this demand thrugh Merging keys@merging.cm Please justify the reasn f yur system migratin r reinstallatin as the RTX64 key is nt meant t be frequently renewed. If Merging cannt fllw up in a quick time respnse (in case f emergency r during weekends) please then cntact the Interval Zer (RTX) Sales team sales@intervalzer.cm This is s because the MassCre/RTX 64bit keys are nw linked t the system/hardware. A slutin exists fr users wh wuld which t have their MassCre/RTX 64bit keys n a secnd Dngle, instead f having it linked t a unique system. Ntes: Fr users with Pyramix and VCube installed n the same system, it is mandatry that yu upgrade t VCube 6.1 t g alng side this Pyramix v10.1. Be aware that VCube v6.1 is nt supprted n Windws 8.1. A new clumn called Database Mapping has been added in the Archiving Metadata Tab allwing t set a Database Mapping infrmatin that is exprted in the XML s that a database parsing the XML can map this metadata with specific database fields. These values are free text A set f predefined values can be set in the registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sftware\Merging Technlgies\Pyramix\ArchivingMetaData\DatabaseMapping as String entries where the name f the strings are the preset values fr database mapping values. Archiving Metadata can nw als be exprted and embedded in BWF files during: Render (as per riginal implementatin) Mixdwn Directly during Recrding The same ptins as present in the Render dialg are available in the Mixdwn dialg and in the Recrd settings ( Insert Archiving Metadata if target is BWF and Generate Archiving Metadata XML alng with rendered/mixdwn/recrded files ) Recrding and Dubbing mde are supprted Single Media, One File per Track and One File per Bus are supprted. The same Metadata Set is embedded in all files in the tw latter. A Clear Metadata Set buttn has been added t clear the cmplete Metadata Set. A Metadata Set can be imprted frm an existing BWF file by using the Imprt Metadata Set frm BWF in the Archiving Metadata Tab. A Metadata Set can be exprted t an existing BWF file by using the Exprt Metadata Set t BWF in the Archiving Metadata Tab. The tw abve allw fr imprting and mdifying existing Metadata in any BWF file. Mixdwn imprvements : The Mix Surces Bus Name selectin clumn n lnger requires a Muse duble-click n the check-bx. Single click t select/unselect a Bus as a surce. The Mix Surces table nw ffers a new clumn called Ludness. It allws selecting independently amng the selected Busses which ne will perfrm the Ludness Analysis and True Peak Limiting, hwever fllwing the glbal Ludness Analysis and True Peak Limiting settings available in the Prcessing sectin. This new feature is nly interesting when in One File per Bus/Stem mde. This allws perfrming the Ludness Analysis and Crrectin n a selectin f Busses and nt n thers, allwing fr a single pass mix-dwn with multiple selectins. In Single Media mde all Busses will autmatically have the same settings, nly a glbal Ludness Analysis/Crrectin is pssible in this mde. In One File per Track mde this feature is nt available (N/A), n Ludness Analysis/Crrectin is pssible in this mde New Wrap in Vide ptin in the Mixdwn Allws the wrapping f audi tracks t a Vide file T : F :

If the Custm name entry is selected but the path empty we will use the Mixdwn dialg destinatin patch as the destinatin When a file with the same name already exists, we pstfix the current file name with date-time. Timecde ptin Use surce timeline (riginal Timecde f file) Use Timeline TimeCde (will verwrite with the timeline clip time psitin, nte supprted with all frmats) Wrap Vide dialg mnitring When a Wrap is prcessed a Mnitring Dialg windw infrm yu f the prcessing and result. The dialg will autmatically be displayed when a Wrap is prcessed. Yu can als pen the MTVideWrap dialg by selecting its icn. A dialg windws will pen indicating yu infrmatin abut the file and its lcatin This feature is meant t quickly and easily wrap new audi int a vide file directly in the Pyramix timeline. One single Vide clip and ne r multiple Audi clips must be selected in the timeline and the menu Vide > Wrap Selectin can be called The Wrap functin, as per the ne available in the Mix-dwn dialg, prcesses a whle Vide file. If the selected Vide clip has been trimmed, this trimming will be ignred and the whle Vide file will be wrapped with new audi. A message is displayed in this case. If the Audi clips either reference a single multi-track audi file, r a set f aligned in time audi files, withut any editing and/r fades within the Vide range, the Audi is wrapped within the Vide directly frm the audi files. If the Audi clips cme frm varius audi files, are edited within the Vide range, have fades, crssfades, etc then the Audi is autmatically rendered first and then wrapped with the Vide. N message is displayed in this case. T : F :

7 If any effects prcessing, autmatin, mixing, etc is meant t be used during the Wrap prcess, then the Mix-dwn with Wrap shuld be used instead. 8 V10 Features New General Mixing Bus: A set f new Mixing/Aux Bus types have been added: the General Mixing Bus It prvides a replacement fr the pre-existing buses ** The ld buses are cnsidered Legacy and are in a sub-menu called Legacy The General Mixing Bus can have 4 flavrs: Mix Bus Mix Grup Aux Bus Aux Grup Bus have utputs that can be cnnected t physical utputs (I/O r internal Buses) Grups are summing bjects which can then be ruted directly t anther Bus r Grup General Mixing Buses have a maximum speaker cunt/bus currently limited t 32 speakers Each channels can be typed, ut f the new extended Channel Types listed belw, including 3D types When creating a new General Mixing Bus, (Right-click menu > Bus > Add > New General Mixing Bus r by using the Cnfigure Page>Tplgy) the chice is given fr ne f the 4 flavrs, the number f channels and a chice f predefined channel types (r speaker arrangements) General Mixing Buses can als be given an ptinal Rm Size. In this case the panning algrithm changes t a distance based algrithm. (see belw) An existing General Mixing Bus speaker tplgy can be mdified after its creatin by using the Rm Editr, available by clicking n the tp cntrl f the I/O & VCA sectin n the bttm f the Mixer. General Mixing Buses (each flavr) have the same cntrls in the Mixer user interface: A send peak meter. Clicking n it cllapses/expands the bus An On/Off buttn A Gain value bx t enter a precise value manually An hrizntal Gain display and cntrl bx A Pre-Fader ptin buttn A Ruting/Panning ptin bx When Channel Ruter is selected a little grid appears belw it allwing t pen an extended grid ruter When Panner is selected (r Panner 1, Panner 2, etc ) The bus will fllw the selected Panning bus t pan/mix the signal in its channels. (see belw fr details n the Panning Bus) A New Bus Trim ptin will appear when Bus Panner mde is selected. This allws Speakers/Buses t be independently cnfigured per Strip t Bus. The Bus Panner mde nce selected will display a Speaker Bus Trim cnfiguratin where users can calibrate r mute speaker independently. Expected Limitatin with the New General Bus and ld Legacy Bus cmbinatins: Due t the different architecture used in the new buses, it is nt recmmended that yu perate a mixer cntaining bth if at all pssible. There are a number f limitatins surrunding this utlined belw. When deciding n which types f buses t use, it is crucial t understand the limitatins that are inherent in a system with 2 ways f emplying Buses. Please ensure that if yu are ging t use the new Buses and panning that yu cnvert ALL f yur Buses t this new type. Or if yu are building a new prject, make sure t chse t use the new buses nly. Legacy SubGrup buses will nt feed int New General Buses Please cnvert the SubGrup t the New Aux Grup Old and New Buses will nt wrk tgether when cnnected t SmartAV Tang & Tang2 cntrllers This can cause a crash f the Tang2 firmware. Please ensure yur mixer cntains nly ld r nly new buses befre cnnecting t the Tang/Tang2 cntrller. T : F :

9 Frmer legacy Buses can be cnverted t new General Mixing Buses. Right click n the legacy bus and select Bus > Cnvert Bus XXX t the General Mixing Bus mdel Warning: It is imprtant t cnvert legacy Buses fr cmpatibility purpses A new General Mixing Bus will be created fr legacy Surrund Buses, Stere Buses and Mn Buses A new General Aux Bus will be created fr legacy Aux Buses A new General Aux Grup will be created fr legacy SubGrup Buses In any case a new Panning Bus is created (see belw New Panning Bus) and assciated with the New General Mixing Bus and all autmatin related t the legacy bus is transferred t the new Panning Bus. Fr Surrund Buses: Fr Multi-Stems Surrund grups, multiple General Mixing Buses will be created, ne per stem. This is the new paradigm fr multi-stem. Each new Bus/Stem can be mdified later with the rm editr (see abve) t reduce (r extend) the number f channels independently fr a mre ptimized use f Buses channels and I/Os. The new Panning Cntrl Bus Panner Type is set t Surrund Panner fr all input strips, but can be changed later t 3D Panner r Pan/Balance strip per strip. The new Panning Cntrl Bus is set t Dual Surce Mde Dual Panner fr each Stere input strips. The Channel Ruter ptin is selected fr any MCS (frmerly GPS) input strips and the grid set as per the legacy bus. Hwever it s recmmended t switch back t the Panning Bus fr a full new re-panning mde. Fr Stere Buses: The new Panning Cntrl Bus Panner Type is set t Pan/Balance fr all input strips, but can be changed later t 3D Panner r Pan/Balance strip per strip. The legacy mde is cnverted t the new Panning Bus mdes Balance, Single Pan, Dual Pan (see belw) Fr Mn Buses: Due t the architecture f the new busses, mn mix busses are nw cnverted int Mn Aux busses and nt anymre t Mn Mix buses as Mix buses have n gain cntrl New Panning Cntrl Bus: A new Panning Cntrl Bus has been added This bus allws fr cntrlling panning infrmatin in 1D (Left/Right), 2D (Surrund) r 3D (Full Space) This bus desn t prcess any audi and has n channels, n assciated utput strip and n I/O Any New General Mixing/Aux Bus/Grups will use the Panning Cntrl Bus fr panning sund in their channels. The same Panning Cntrl Bus can pan sund fr any channel mapping f any General Mixing Bus, i.e. the same panning infrmatin f the same input strip can cntrl a 9.1 Mixing Bus, a 5.1 Mixing Grup and a Stere Aux Grup at the same time, fr instance. Generally ne single Panning Cntrl Bus is required fr all Mixing Buses, hwever Multiple Panning Cntrl Buses can be created if needed if different panning infrmatin is required fr the same input strip n different Mixing Buses. (Right-click menu > Bus > Add > New Panning Cntrl Bus) The in-strip User Interface fr the Panning Cntrl Bus can be switched t 3 different Panner Types (Right-click menu n the Panning Bus > Set Panner Type): T : F :

10 3D Panner, giving access t the standard 2D surrund cntrl plus the Height/Z axis, the divergence and the LFE gain. 2D Panner, giving access t the standard 2D surrund, the divergence and the LFE gain. Pan/Balance (1D Panner), giving access t three flavrs f panning (belw) plus divergence and LFE gain: When n a Mn Strip, the cntrl is always a Pan When n a Stere Strip, the fllwing chice is ffered as Dual Surce Mde (Right-click menu n the Panning Bus > Dual Surce Mde): Single Pan Dual Pan Balance Divergence has been given a Type: Divergence Type are: 1D (Left/Right) : the divergence nly spreads Left/Right 2D (L/R - F/R) : the divergence spreads n the traditinal surrund space, like per legacy surrund Buses 3D (L/R - F/R T/B) ; the divergence spreads n the whle 3D space The Divergence Type can be changed per Strip The Divergence Type can be changed by right clicking n any strip in the cnsle The Divergence Type can be changed in the 3D Panning Cntrl Bus windw The selected Divergence Type is displayed in the 3 views f 3D Panning Cntrl Bus windw The 3D Panning Cntrl Bus windw cntrls and buttns have changed their lk t accmmdate with the Left/Right Pan/Dual Pan and Balance mde and t the Tp/Bttm Clr Cding The Autmatin fr the panning infrmatin is assciated with the Panning Cntrl Bus and the same fr any General Mixing Bus sharing the Panning Cntrl Bus (bviusly). Autmatin fr the Send On/Off, Send Gain, Pre/Pst Fader is assciated with each General Mixing Bus, independently New MS (Middle Side) Decding in New Bus Architecture The new General Mixing Bus nw decdes the MS directly and withut the additin f any additinal user interface. Users can feed an MS strip with Middle and Side infrmatin as befre, and nw the panner itself will decde the Left and Right infrmatin and feed it directly t the cnnected Buses. If yu switch the Bus cnnectin t use the Channel Ruter instead f the Panner, yu will be able t then rute the raw C and W signal thrugh the bus instead. There is a temprary lss f the additinal Middle and Side Mixing cntrls which existed in the ld-style bussing cnnectin. S, when using the new General Mixing Buses, users will need t mix between the Middle and Side levels by using Clip Gains & Clip Envelpes. This functinality will return in a subsequent release f the Pyramix sftware. Advanced Panning Cntrl Bus Windw: When Duble Muse Clicking n a Panning Cntrl Bus Panner, the Advanced Panning Cntrl Bus Windw pens. It gives access t 2 views fr 3D panning, Tp View (frm Tp), Back View (frm Back). All speakers/channels f all General Mixing Buses cnnected t that Panning Cntrl are displayed in grey The level f audi/gain actually sent t these speakers are indicated in the layer clr cde prprtinally f the sund level. The speakers clr cde is Red fr the standard layer, Green fr the Tp Layer, Blue fr the Bttm Layer and Yellw fr the LFEs. Panning can be dne directly by mving the Panner in any f the three views Sliders fr the X, Y Z axis are available belw the three views When n a Stere Strip, the chice fr the Re-Panner r the Dual Surce sliders are available depending n the selected Dual Surce Mde (see abve) The Single Pan Dual Surce mde default Surce Size value is 100% T : F :

11 When n a Multi-Channel Strip r n a Stere Strip with Dual Surce Mde set t Single Pan, the Re-Panner cntrls are available: A Surce Size slider allws fr spreading the input Surces Three Rtatin Sliders allws fr rtating the input Surces in the X, Y, Z axis A new Objects Bus has been created: Specially created fr Dlby Atms wrkflws, this bus prvides a separated utput t send t a cnsle when mixing fr this frmat An Objects Bus is created by selected the right muse buttn menu > Bus > Add > General Mixing Bus r by using the cnfigure page>tplgy>add Bus, then selecting the Object Bus ptin in the dialg bx, then chsing Channels Mapping t Custm and entering the desired number f Object Channels fr the bus The Objects Bus shws a Grid fr every Strips allwing the display the Objects Ruter. The Objects Ruter allws fr selecting ne r mre Objects Channels t send all input channels f the given Strip t that Object Channel. When input is ruted t the Object bus, all ther Buses fr that strip input are muted, like fr a Sl. Objects Bus Ruting is autmated. Input sund can be sent fr a limited time t any Objects Channel.
