While each example has been designed with the utmst care users are reminded that they have t verify that the setups satisfy the rules and cnditins fr their industries and thse required by law and end user. Ultimately, we hpe t prvide a useful resurce fr all users f the SIMON+ cnfiguratin envirnment. Basic setup fr examples 1 7 In rder t try example cnfiguratins using the Pepperl+Fuchs safety cntrller, the fllwing electrical cnnectins need t be made. In additin t these cnnectins, the cnfiguratin sftware SIMON+ (VAZ-SW-SIMON+) must be installed n a Windws PC. 2 Example 1 Simple e-stp circuit Depressing any ne f the e-stps will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. Once all e-stps are in their released state, the reset can be activated and the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON. 3 Example 2 -- Simple e-stp and magnetic dr switch setup Depressing the e-stps will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. Once the e-stp has been released it can be reset. If drs are clsed, the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON. Opening any ne f the drs will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. When all drs are clsed, the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON autmatically (n reset) prvided the e-stp has been released and reset. This is a mdificatin f example 2; the same electrical cnnectins as shwn fr that example apply. In this example, the setup f the magnetic dr switches has been changed t allw shrt term, single-cntact pening f up t 200 ms (this time is user selectable). This is frequently necessary n small access drs used t cver cnveyr systems in the fd and packaging industries. All ther settings are unchanged. Depressing the e-stps will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. Once the e-stp has been released it can be reset. If drs are clsed, the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON. Opening any ne f the drs will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. 4 Example 3 Simple e-stp, dr switch and light curtain setup This is a mdificatin t example 2a. Any ne f the three safe input devices will turn OFF the safe utput OSSD1. When the e-stp r the light curtain has been released, the safety cntrller can be reset using input terminal S72. Just as in example 2a, the magnetic dr switch des nt require a reset. 5 Example 4 Simple e-stp setup with feedback t PLC This is a mdificatin t example 1. Tw cnventinal utputs are used t prvide feedback (Safe Output OFF, Ready t ). Depressing any ne f the e-stps will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. The OSSD1 is indicated t the PLC by means f a messaging utput n the safety cntrller. Once all e-stps are in their released state, the reset can be activated and the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON. When the safety cntrller is ready t be reset but the reset signal has nt been applied, a secnd messaging utput Ready t reset n the safety cntrller is ON. 6 Example 5 Tw-hand press cntrl with light curtain In this example, tw safety palm buttns (e.g., Pepperl+Fuchs' capacitive safety palm buttn PB1-xx r PB2-xx) and an electrnic light curtain are cnnected t the safety cntrller. Fr tw-hand cntrl, the fllwing must be achieved in rder t activate the safe utput f the cntrller and thus cycle the press: Cntinuity bth palm buttns must remain activated fr the entire time f the press strke Synchrnicity the tw palm buttns must be activated within 500 ms f each ther Antitie-dwn when ne palm buttn is released, the ther buttn must als be released befre anther press cycle can be started Access t the press is als prtected by an electrnic light curtain. Shuld this light curtain be interrupted while the press is being cycled, the safe utput turns OFF. 7 Example 6 Slenid-lcking dr switch, e-stp, and indicatrs In this example, a slenid-lcking dr safety switch ( pwer t lck r pwer t unlck design) and an e-stp are used. The safe utput OSSD1 turns ON when the dr is clsed and latched and the e-stp is released. Nn-safe inputs are used t detect when t lck/unlck the dr. Messaging utputs are used t indicate when the safe utput OSSD1 is OFF, the dr is clsed and lcked, and the e-stp is ready t be reset. OSSD 2 is used t cntrl the slenid; a messaging utput cannt be used as it des nt prvide enugh current t supply the slenid. 8 Example 6a Slenid-lcking dr (aut lcking) In this example, a slenid-lcking dr safety switch ( pwer t unlck design) and ne e-stp are used. The safe utput OSSD1 turns ON when the dr is clsed and latched (i.e., n pwer t the slenid) and the e-stp is released and reset. A nn-safe input is used t unlck the dr switch. Messaging utputs are used t indicate that the safe utput OSSD1 is OFF, the dr is clsed and lcked, the dr is unlcked and can be pened, and when the e-stp is ready t be reset. In this example, nce unlcked, the dr aut-lcks after five secnds. OSSD 2 is used t cntrl the slenid; a messaging utput cannt be used as it des nt prvide enugh current t supply the slenid. 9 Example 7 Safety circuit with EDM feedback This is a mdificatin f example 1. Safe utput OSSD1 is used t drive the slenid f a mtr starter. The feedback cntact n the mtr starter is mnitred. Depressing any ne f the e-stps will turn OFF safe utput OSSD1. Once all e-stps are in their released state, the reset can be activated and the safe utput OSSD1 will turn ON. EDM is based n the fllwing cnditins: 1. When the utput n the mtr starter is clsed, the feedback cntact must pen within a defined amunt f time 2. When the utput n the mtr starter is pened, the feedback cntact must be clsed within a defined amunt f time 3. The safety cntrller ges int the Errr Lck state if the feedback cntact des nt perate as described in steps 1 and 2. The safety cntrller must nw be reset using the SET buttn.
