One f the bys seems t assciate it with a megaphne used when they were evacuated. At the first frmal meeting Ralph, as chief, gives the cnch the status f indicating wh may speak. Frm the start, Piggy relies n the cnch very ften t btain the right t speak right up t his last fatal trip t Castle Rck. Hw Jack undermines the 'pwer' f the cnch Jack regularly undermines the status f the cnch when it suits him. This reflects that he des nt accept Ralph's leadership. The very first meeting breaks up in chas because Jack ignres Ralph waving the cnch and leads the rush t make a fire. Jack ften vices his cntempt fr the cnch with remarks like 'bllcks t the rules!'. Jack ignres rules regarding justice and freedm f expressin shwing a disregard fr the cnch and all it stands fr: discipline, demcracy and rder. When Jack and his tribe raid the shelter fr Piggy's glasses, they d nt steal the cnch, shwing that they d nt attach any value t it. The cnch is destryed when Piggy is killed. Hw the 'pwer' f the cnch is destryed by the end f the nvel Its destructin marks the end f inncence and freedm. They ignre the Prince's rders. All attempts t keep the peace fail they seem unable t cntrl even their servants. The relatinship between the children and their parents, especially the Capulets Rme and his parents' relatinship is distant n direct cmmunicatin between them. Benvli is used as a g-between/messenger. Juliet and her parents: Lady Capulet seems cld, alf and selfish. Lady Capulet seems t accept that the Nurse is clser t Juliet. Old Capulet is frceful and bullies ther members f the family, especially Juliet. Old Capulet secures a marriage fr Juliet fr the sake f scial standing rather than fr Juliet's happiness. He threatens t diswn Juliet if she disbeys him. This unreasnable attitude pushes Juliet t deceive her parents. The cnsequences f the parents' actins The cnfrntatin at the Capulet ball is a direct result f the feud. Capulet sides with Rme and chases Tybalt away leading t bitter resentment n Tybalt's part. This is t avid embarrassment at the ball. It shws Capulet's selfish nature and leads t Tybalt and Rme's duel. Tybalt's death by Rme's hand is a result f the feud and Capulet's actins. Capulet's unreasnable haste t get Juliet married t Paris causes her t take desperate measures with Friar Lawrence. When the Capulets finally make peace with Mntague, it is t late.
