1 Eighth Note Pulications Partners N Sidekicks Kevin Kaisershot THE WORK: Designed or eginning level instrumentalists, Partners n Sidekicks was written or a couple o my ormer students whose musical energies were contagious. Though oth very independent players (a skill that served them well as they progressed) they worked very well together, each challenging the other to e etter. So it is with this piece that allows each perormer to present the musical line as well as work together (in harmony) as the piece progresses. PERORMANCE TIPS: On irst glance it would seem ovious that this is a game o toss and catch. The potential prolem however is that the tempo symmetry may e compromised i the receiver is not in sync with the tempo and vice versa. Work toward the perormers developing an inner pulse so that the tossing o the melodic line (in the open sections) is luid. Balance the mid-section (mm ) dynamically as this is more o an equal partner display. This work is part o a growing series o original pieces y this talented composer. Many o these titles are already ound on contest lists throughout the country. PREVIEW ONLY These like-instrument ensemle works are designed to e perormed y junior high and high school level musicians. They are ideal or use in estivals and competitions as well as in concerts, church services and other special events. All pieces are melodically and rhythmically creative with all parts eing interesting and suitale in diiculty. (Easy- Medium, Medium) Besides their use as like-instrument pieces, they are all interchangeale and will work with any comination o the rass or woodwind instruments (lute, clarinet, saxophone, horn, trumpet, tromone and tua). This means that any non-standard cominations o instruments will have access to these terriic works. Kevin Kaisershot was orn in Dickinson, North Dakota and raised in Lincoln, Neraska and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. His ormal training was received at the University o Neraska-Lincoln (BME) and Illinois State University (MM). He has done additional post-graduate work at oth Northern Illinois University and Vandercook College o Music. He has studied trumpet with Dennis Schneider and Richard Lehman. He has also studied conducting with Jack R. Snider, Roert B. Allan, Alan McMurray, Mallory Thompson and Richard loyd. He lives in Aurora, Illinois where he is a reelance composer/arranger and trumpet soloist as well as a music teacher in one o the local area school districts. Kevin Kaisershot has taught at all levels o instrumental music, oth at the pulic school level (24 years) and the college level (ive years). He is a memer o several proessional organizations, including the International Trumpet Guild, Illinois Music Educators Association, MENC and ASCAP. Among some o his most recent honors, Mr. Kaisershot has een honored with inclusion in several yearly editions o Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He also received in1997 the Award o Recognition rom the Illinois State Board o Education as part o their "Those Who Excel" Program. As a conductor, clinician, and composer, Mr. Kaisershot has ecome well traveled throughout the Mid-West, and has achieved somewhat o a ollowing worldwide, where his music has received critical acclaim. His and and orchestra compositions are presently on several state contest lists. He has won several awards or his and compositions including the distinction that his march entitled Spectre o ortune was adopted y the State o Massachusetts Lion's Clu Organizations as their oicial march. He is also a ten-time recipient o the annual ASCAP standard awards or his contriutions to the advancement o American/Educational music.
