1 Eighth Note Publications Elegy Kevin Kaisershot THE WORK: As the second movement o Suite Historique, this versatile ork is adaptable to many combinations o instruments. It is designed to be very introspective and thought provoking; a piece that suggests a sense o longing or o personal loss. PERORMANCE TIPS: The tone is set rom the opening bars o this piece. It is lyrical and at the same time dynamic in a subdued ay. Phrases should be dran out to their ullest length and emotion should rule the perormance. This is an emotional piece that speaks mostly in a despairing ay, yet ends ith a glimmer o hope. Perormers should kno ho each part its and hen to play the supportive role versus the lead. Dynamics are ritten and designed to help sho here these occasions occur. This ork is part o a groing series o original pieces by this talented composer. Many o these titles are already ound on contest lists throughout the country. These like-instrument ensemble orks are designed to be perormed by unior high and high school level musicians. They are ideal or use in estivals and competitions as ell as in concerts, church services and other special events. All pieces are melodically and rhythmically creative ith all parts being interesting and suitable PREVIEW in diiculty. (Easy-Medium, Medium) ONLY Besides their use as like-instrument pieces, they are all interchangeable and ill ork ith any combination o the brass or oodind instruments (lute, clarinet, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba). This means that any non-standard combinations o instruments ill have access to these terriic orks. Kevin Kaisershot as born in Dickinson, North Dakota and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. His ormal training as received at the University o Nebraska-Lincoln (BME) and Illinois State University (MM). He has done additional post-graduate ork at both Northern Illinois University and Vandercook College o Music. He has studied trumpet ith Dennis Schneider and Richard Lehman. He has also studied conducting ith Jack R. Snider, Robert B. Allan, Alan McMurray, Mallory Thompson and Richard loyd. He lives in Aurora, Illinois here he is a reelance composer/arranger and trumpet soloist as ell as a music teacher in one o the local area school districts. Kevin Kaisershot has taught at all levels o instrumental music, both at the public school level (24 years) and the college level (ive years). He is a member o several proessional organizations, including the International Trumpet Guild, Illinois Music Educators Association, MENC and ASCAP. Among some o his most recent honors, Mr. Kaisershot has been honored ith inclusion in several yearly editions o Who's Who Among America's Teachers. He also received in1997 the Aard o Recognition rom the Illinois State Board o Education as part o their "Those Who Excel" Program. As a conductor, clinician, and composer, Mr. Kaisershot has become ell traveled throughout the Mid-West, and has achieved somehat o a olloing orldide, here his music has received critical acclaim. His band and orchestra compositions are presently on several state contest lists. He has on several aards or his band compositions including the distinction that his march entitled Spectre o ortune as adopted by the State o Massachusetts Lion's Club Organizations as their oicial march. He is also a ten-time recipient o the annual ASCAP standard aards or his contributions to the advancement o American/Educational music.
