Resrt, Vermnt, USA. Smugglers Ntch Resrt, the PDGA, and the Green Muntain Disc Glf Club are excited t welcme yu t Vermnt fr the cmpetitin, which will be held the week f September 2 nd t September 9 th, Please nte that while yu have been invited t register, registratin will take place in tiers based n player rating. This tiered system, alng with the registratin schedule is included in this invitatin package. AREA ATTRACTIONS & INFORMATION As hsts, we are thrilled t welcme yu t Vermnt and ur crner f the state called Smugglers Ntch Resrt. The resrt is situated at the base f the Sterling Muntain Range, a prtin f the Green Muntain spine that runs up the center f the state frm Massachusetts t Canada. The Sterling Range drps ff precipitusly int a natural feature called Smugglers Ntch befre rising even mre dramatically t the highest pint f the highest peak in the state, Mt. Mansfield. The ntch was dubbed Smugglers due t its histry f gds and alchl being smuggled thrugh the ntch, much f which was hidden in caves fund in its rcky utcrppings. Fr thse invitees wh register and/r attend the Wrld Champinships, we hpe that yu take advantage f the numerus recreatinal and cultural pprtunities affrded t yu in the area! The resrt is situated in the twn f Cambridge, Vermnt, and is surrunded by the village f Jeffersnville t the Nrth and the twn f Stwe t the suth. Bth twns ffer great lcal farm-t-table dining, craft beer, cider, and spirits, and many ther recreatinal pprtunities such as biking, hiking, zip-lining, tree-tp bstacle curses, farmer s markets, ball glf, swimming, waterfalls, and much mre! The twns f Waterbury, Essex, and Mrrisville are all als within a 30-minute drive and feature turist attractins. DISC GOLF INFORMATION Of curse, the main draw fr disc glfers t the area, and the reasn yu are attending, is the Smugglers Ntch Disc Glf Center. Built, wned, and perated by Smugglers Ntch Resrt, the Disc Glf Center is happy t annunce that in additin t the tw wrld champinship curses (Brewster Ridge & Fx Run Meadws), cmpetitrs in Pr Wrlds will enjy a brand new pr shp being built n site fr the event that will pen its drs in early June. The Disc Glf Center allws Smugglers t prvide a unique experience fr cmpetitrs at the PDGA Pr Wrlds; n travel. Indeed, bth curses being used are n resrt prperty and start within 300 feet f each ther. This, hwever, des nt mean that they will present similar challenges. Brewster Ridge, established in 2012, is primarily wded and stretches apprximately 8,000 feet thrugh the frests and fthills f the Sterling Muntain range. Beautiful wded lanes, several with ptins n hw best t attack, and interesting greens characterize this curse which has cnsistently ranked as ne

2 f the cuntry s best fr the past five years. The curse will see a few changes in preparatin fr the wrld champinships, as new tee pads will be installed, tw new hles will replace tw utging hles, a few gld tees will be extended, and the curse length will increase. Thse wh knw the curse will find a very similar test, with the additinal challenge f a new par 4 and apprximately 700ft added t the curse length verall! Fx Run Meadws was first a 9-hle curse in the fields adjacent t Brewster Ridge. As the sprt grew in ppularity at Smugglers, Fx Run s 18-hle ptential was realized and the yin t the yang f Brewster Ridge was brn. At ver 9,300 feet, Fx Run was expanded t include a large swath f land running ut and arund Smugglers Btlegger s Basin. The basin cmes int play, but the curse is als characterized by its length and need fr placement, and cntrl all the way until the disc has cme t rest. With many hles lined with ut f bunds, players need t play cautiusly aggressive t scre well n this track. While I designed Brewster Ridge, Steve Brinster tk the lead n the expansin f Fx Run t 18-hles, and we are grateful fr his cnsultatin n bth curses at the Smugglers Ntch Disc Glf Center! RESORT LODGING INFORMATION In additin t ur Disc Glf Center, Smugglers Ntch Resrt itself basts ver 3,000 guest beds. Ldging rates vary based n the size f the unit, the length f stay, and the amunt f peple in yur party. Generally, the player rates range frm $39/persn/night (lng stay in a larger unit with many peple), t $89/persn/night (shrter stay fr tw peple in a studi). If yu decide t investigate alternative ldging, there are plenty f ptins in bth Jeffersnville and Stwe. TRAVEL CONSIDERATIONS Fr thse cmpetitrs travelling via plane, the clsest airprt is the Burlingtn Internatinal Airprt (BTV). Only 45 minutes away frm Smugglers, Burlingtn Internatinal is fairly small and knwn t be an easy airprt t fly in and ut f. Fr thse searching fr the lwest fares, Mntreal, Quebec (1.5 hrs.), Manchester, NH (2.5 hrs.), and Bstn, MA (4 hrs.) are als hubs in the general New England area. Fr thse cmpetitrs wh chse t fly, please indicate yur interest in shuttle service t and frm the airprt n the registratin frm, as the resrt may be able t rganize a few pick-up times frm Burlingtn Internatinal Airprt. This wuld eliminate the need fr a rental vehicle since, nce yu are n site, there is n need fr a vehicle with the centralized Smuggs Village and shuttle service t the Disc Glf Center. Our team cmpetes with dzens f ther ski & ride teams. The winter isn t the nly time that the Special Olympics runs events! They fundraise year-rund in rder t prvide recreatinal pprtunities and events fr peple with intellectual disabilities. We are cntinuing ur traditin f assisting with their fundraising effrts by naming the Special Olympics f Vermnt as ur charitable cause fr the 2018 Pr Wrlds! Special Olympics Vermnt was incrprated in February 1971 as a Vermnt nn-prfit crpratin [501(c)(3)] and is accredited every tw years by Special Olympics, Inc. Special Olympics Vermnt is funded n the belief that peple with intellectual disabilities can, with prper instructin and encuragement, learn, enjy, and benefit frm participatin in individual and team sprts. A NOTE ON REGISTRATION As nted previusly, registratin will be cnducted in tiers, with the highest rated invitees able t register in tier 1, and s n until the event is filled. There will be 216 spts available fr the MPO divisin, and 72 spts available fr the FPO divisin. Please review the infrmatin included in this invitatin clsely t ensure that yu understand all the parts and pieces including the area maps, the registratin schedule, and the curse schedule. Once cmpetitrs have successfully registered fr the event, we will prvide a final package f infrmatin cnfirming all event details!
